MikroCaps Biocides

Since biocides are toxic to a certain extent, there has been legislative pressure to reduce the amount of their exposure or leakage. MikroCaps technologies allow a minimum inhibitory concentration at the surface to be maintained over an extended period of time while inhibiting aqueous extraction. At the same time, human exposure is reduced in both the production and end-use settings. As a molecularly small biocide diffuses through the capsules membrane, it reaches the surface where it acts against the growing organisms. A formulation of microencapsulated biocides rather than freely dispersed biocides is one way to minimise the amount released into the environment and to prolong the protection.

Mikrocaps insecticides and repellents

Insecticides are conventionally applied by periodic broadcasting or spraying. Very high, and possibly toxic, concentrations are applied initially, and these often decrease rapidly in the field of concentration that fall below the minimum effective level. As a result, repeated applications are needed to maintain insect control. Due to some research results up to 98 % of sprayed insecticides reach a destination other than their target species, including air, water, sediments and food.

Because of new ecological legislations and increased awareness of users, CS formulations (Capsule Suspensions) of insecticides are more and more important. MikroCaps insecticides and repellents have many advantages like:

  • Controlled release of active ingredients,
  • Formaldehyde-free formulation,
  • Could be used for inner and outdoor applications,
  • Suits to new legislation,
  • Are suitable also for non professionals,
  • Active substances are protected against environmental degradation,
  • Reduction of leaching into the environment,
  • Safe handling.

MikroCaps offers microencapsulation services for many types of insecticides.
